A silver filigree and Shibayama-style vase and cover

The openwork silver filigree body inset on one side with a gold lacquer panel inlaid in typical Shibayama style with cranes standing among flowering shrubs and stands of bamboo on one side, the other with a similarly-inlaid ivory panel enclosing an ikebana arrangement suspended from cherry branches, the silver cover carved in relief with four dragons and surmounted with a finial in the form of a pair of wagtails perched on a rock, the sides applied with two silver and enamelled handles in the form of mythological beasts, signed Mitsumasa. 16cm (6¼in) high.
