Of rectangular form with canted corners, decorated in typical Shibayama style with a central panel enclosing an elaborately-tasselled wicker basket brimming over with peonies, cherry blossoms and chrysanthemums suspended from cherry branches, with a pair of uguisu (wagtails) in flight and another on the ground beside shrubs of amadokoro and sasa grass, within a silver filigree frame applied with translucent enamelled butterflies, peony and chrysanthemum heads; the underside of rich nashiji, unsigned. 2.7cm x 31.7cm x 24.6cm (1in x 12½in x 9 5/8in).
