A silver-mounted ivory Shibayama-inlaid tusk vase
Meiji Period
Typically executed in stained ivory, mother-of-pearl and tortoise-shell, one side decorated with a dove among flowering blooms, the reverse with an exotic long-tailed bird perched on a plum tree, a butterfly hovering above, the foot and rim applied with a silver filigree mount, unsigned; supported on a detachable six-legged wood stand.
The vase 20.5cm (8 7/8in) high, the wood stand 16cm (6¼in) high. (2).
