Meiji Period
Conisting of five bijin, two standing and dancing as they hold fans to the accompaniment of music played by the other three seated bijin, all elegantly clad in formal kimono lacquered in gold and slight-coloured takamakie with trailing vine and seasonal floral blossoms, with discreet details inlaid in aogai, their faces, hands, coiffure, tabi-feet and implements of ivory; unsigned. Both standing figures 26cm (10¾in) high. (5).
