A Tokyo School ivory figure of a fisherman
By Shoko/Masahiro, Meiji Period
Standing with one foot resting on a foamy-wave-lashed rock, wearing a straw conical hat, smiling as he looks out to sea, a clutched net in his hands and draped over the left side of his body, poised as if about to cast his net into the swirling waters, a pipe within a pipe case, a kinchaku and manju-netsuke attached from the waist band on his straw skirt, signed Shoko/Masahiro.
35cm (13¾in) high.
