A Tokyo School ivory figure of a peasant

Standing wearing a tenugui over his head, smiling and leaning to one side, as he is surprised by a dove which has just landed on his hand, his rustic repaired spade partially covered with soil leaning under his arm is still buried in the earth, a pipe within a case, tobacco pouch and netsuke in the form of a rabbit are suspended from his belt, signed in an oval reserve Shozan.
