A Tokyo School ivory group of an old man and child
Meiji Period
The former standing barefoot and affectionately lifting his grandson with one hand, as he holds the leash of a tortoise crawling over his right knee, a tonkotsu, pipe within a case, and netsuke in the form of a Daruma doll suspended from the old man's belt at the front, fixed to an irregular-shaped base simulating a river bank, signed with an indecipherable tensho seal.
39cm (15 3/8in) high.
