A hoshi bachi kabuto (helmet)
Late Edo Period, 19th century
The sixteen-plate lacquered bowl with large graduated hoshi, the front plate with a single shinodare at the top, a three-stage tehen kanamono and at the back a kasa jirushi no kan, to the koshimaki is fixed a single-plate shikoro edged with gilt fukurin and underneath are metal loops for the suspension of an additional neck defence, the fukigaeshi and mabisashi covered in brown-lacquered leather.
