The armour, Edo Period, 17th-18th century; the helmet, Muromachi Period, late 15th/early 16th century
The twenty-four-plate akoda nari helmet black-lacquered with a small original five-stage tehen kanamono, on the front a maedate of an oni, a five-lame Hineno jikoro of iron without fukigaeshi, russet lacquered menpo with hair moustache and chin tuft and fitted with a three-lame iron yodarekake, bishamon gote the upper arms laced as sode, the shino and tekko with silvered floral motifs, an iron nuinobe do with kusazuri of leather kiritsuke kozane retaining on the back the gattari, machiuke and ukezutsu for a sashimono, karuta gane haidate, shino suneate and a pair of mail and plate wakibiki for wearing under the armour, black-lacquered overall and laced in white kebiki odoshi; with an armour box and wood stand.
