A composite armour
Mid Edo Period, 17th-18th century
The black-lacquered iron zunari kabuto with large hoshi on the edges of the plates, the front lacquered with a red sun in front of which is a gilded-wood dragon maedate, the shikoro of leather scales mounted on fabric, the top row angled upwards, an iron menpo gilded with a leather scale yodarekake, scale sode the top silvered, iron oda gote gold-lacquered, the iron okegawa yokohagi do overlaid with iron scales lacquered-black with the mune ita, waki ita and oshitsuke ita in silver, leather kiritsuke kozane kusazuri laced in blue kebiki odoshi, haidate of leather star-shaped plates joined by mail and gold-lacquered, the centre of each with a mon in black, shino suneate; together with an armour box and wood stand.
