A Nara School shakudo tsuba
Attributed to Toshinaga, late 18th century
Of circular form, carved and inlaid with a rural scene, showing a trap in the form of a basket attached to a line suspended from the grilled window of a thatched hut, birds among flowering trees and banded hedges, details in gold, silver and copper takazogan, signed Toshinaga with kao; contained within a circular converted black lacquer kagamibako (mirror box), decorated with aoi-mon in takamakie, the interior of mura-nashiji.
