Two lacquer inro
One by Yamada Jokasai, 19th century
Comprising one gold lacquer three-case inro, of wide form, the nashiji ground with scattered large hirame flakes, lacquered and inlaid with an armillary sphere in gold and coloured takamakie with details of aogai, the interior of red lacquer with roiro risers, signed Jokasai, 7.9cm (3⅛in) wide; with an ivory ojime carved with a cluster of six Noh and Kyogen masks, unsigned, and a wood netsuke of Shoki and oni, inscribed Hidemasa; the second bearing four cases, of black lacquer, with a dragon emerging from tumultuous waves beneath the peak of Mount Fuji in yamimakie and slight-coloured lacquer, the interior of nashiji, unsigned, 8.2cm (3¼in).
