The first of four cases, formed of stitched cherry-bark, lacquered in gold and silver takamakie, partly simulating pewter with a standing crane and a young pine tree, unsigned, 8.9cm (3½in); the second of three cases, formed from coconut shell, carved in relief with a continuous scene of two ospreys, one perched on a rock above waves while the other dives down towards the turbulent water, unsigned, 8.2cm (3¼in), with a tsuishu-lacquer manju netsuke carved in relief with karako at play among trees; the third of porcelain, of four cases, covered with a mottled brown glaze and the bottom case gold-lacquered with breaking Korin-style waves, unsigned, 6cm (2⅜in); with cloisonné enamel ojime.
