Of wide form, bearing a mura-nashiji ground, lacquered with a continuous scene of rocks and marker posts beside a winding stream in gold togidashi, e-nashiji and gold and silver takamakie, the interior of nashiji, signed Hakugyoku Hoin with kao, Kanshosai with kao.

    Hakugyoku(sai) was the art name (go) of Eisen'in II (1730-1790), an artist of the Kano School, whose designs were the source of inspiration for a number of later inro makers and other lacquerers.
