A lacquer four-case inro
Late 18th century
The sparse nashiji ground decorated in gold and slight-coloured takamakie and gold togidashi with a humorous scene of Shoki the demon-queller emerging from behind a rock wielding a sword, as a cheeky oni dangles a yajirobe (balancing toy) in front of him, the interior of nashiji, unsigned. 7.7cm (3in) high.
