The first of three cases, each side bearing a wood panel, carved in relief with a dragon amid clouds, on a ground of mura-nashiji, 7cm (2¾in); with an engraved umimatsu ojime, and a wood netsuke of three suzu; the second of three cases, carved in relief with Choryo and Kosekiko and the episode of the 'passing of the shoe', slight details inlaid with aogai, 7.3cm (2 7/8in); the third of three cases, of pouch shape, lacquered and inlaid with wild flowers, the simulated clasp in the form of a stylised butterfly, 7.6cm (3in); with lacquered ojime, and a wood netsuke of stylised fungi; all unsigned.
