Two early lacquer inro
18th century
The first of three cases, formed of snake-skin, with black-lacquered top and base, lacquered with rats gnawing a gourd and two eggplants in gold and slight-coloured takamakie, unsigned, 7cm (2¾in); the second of circular form, the two cases of black lacquer, each side with a gold-lacquered panel, one carved with a ho-o bird, the other with pomegranates, unsigned, 6.3cm (2½in), with metal ojime.
