An ebony netsuke of a recumbent stallion
By Tanaka Minko (1735-1816), Tsu, 19th century
Lying with its head turned to the left, its tail sweeping the same flank and its legs drawn in for compactness, one forming the himotoshi, the wood is slightly worn and the eyes are of brass with dark pupils, signed Minko with kao.
4.5cm (1¾in).
