An Egyptian green glazed steatite double-sided oval plaque
New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, circa 1479-1425 B.C.
One surface carved in relief depicting a central squatting baboon (Thoth or Khonsu) flanked by uraei, one wearing the red crown, the other the white crown, a crocodile above and below, the reverse in sunken relief with a recumbent sphinx representing a king wearing a horned headdress with double plume and cobra, flanked by cartouches, one for Menkheperre (Tuthmosis III), the edge decorated with relief chevron pattern, 1in (2.7cm) long, with a gold chain
