A large Roman mosaic panel
Circa 4th-5th Century A.D.
Composed of black, red, yellow, green, pink and grey tesserae on a cream background, depicting a large lobed chalice on a plinth in the centre with a peacock on either side, the long tails with multi-coloured feathers, a duck and a water bird at the top corners and two pheasants and a wood pigeon at the bottom, flowers in the field, 58¼in x 82¼in (148cm x 209cm), mounted on a cement panel
