of squat cylindrical form, the body with three suspension handles, a flattened shoulder, central dome and knop finial, body inlaid with silver with two registers of script and meandering vine between, the cover with three suspension loops and inlaid with inscription, a frieze of running animals on a scrolling ground

    The inscriptions comprise: around the rim in cursive,
    al-'izz wa al-iqbal wa al-dawla wa al-sa'ada wa al-tamma wa al-kirama wa al-dawama wa al-faragha wa al-baqa li-sahibihi, "Glory and prosperity and Wealth and Happiness and Generosity and Endurance and Repose and Long-life to its owner";
    around the body in cursive, al-'izz wa al-iqbal wa a/l-dawla wa al-da/wama wa al-sa'a[da], "Glory and prosperity and Wealth and Endurance and Happiness";
    around the base in kufic: bi'l-yumn wa al-baraka wa a/l-dawala wa al-d (?) wa al-daw/ama wa al-baqa ...; "With Good-fortune and Blessing and turn of Good-fortune and ... and Endurance and Long-life ...".
