This work owes its inspiration to the tradition of Islamic miniature painting from Turkey and Persia, with a noticeable movement towards abstraction. Dating to the late 1940s, it belongs to a group of works that include Tents Scotland (1948) and Fight against Abstraction (1947) (Parinaud, Andre, Fahr El Nissa Zeid, Amman, 1984, pp. 74-5, nos. 47 and 48).
