  • Provenance: UK private collection; acquired directly from the artist in the mid 1970s.

    A portrait entitled "Eva" appeared in Fahrelnissa Zeid's first exhibition at the Ralli Apartment in Nisantasi, Istanbul. A private photograph taken at this exhibition, marked in Fahrelnissa's hand, identifies the sitter (see illustration).

    One of the other portraits probably depicts Fureya Koral, the artist's niece and a ceramicist.
