rectangular, moulded and decorated in polychrome depicting Shirin bathing in a roadside pool as Khusrau gallops by, the border with scrolling floral vines and perching birds, two inscription-filled cartouches to upper and lower right corners

  • The inscriptions comprise: in the top-right-hand corner, the name 'Muhammad Husayn'; in the lower-right hand corner the name 'Mirza 'Abd al-Jawad'.

    There is a late Qajar tile maker with the name Muhammad Husayn from Isfahan and it is possible the inscription should be interpreted as Muhammad Husayn [son of] Mirza 'Abd al-Jawad.
