B. an album page in shikasta nasta'liq, with part of a text mentioning Sultan Ibrahim Mirza, possibly by the celebrated Safavid shikastah ta'liq calligrapher Khwaja Ikhtiyar Munshi, Persia, mid-16th Century, Persian manuscript on paper, 6 lines of shikasta nasta'liq script in black ink, trimmed, laid down on an album page with a green outer border, framed, page 288 x 181 mm.
C. an album page with Persian poetry in shikasta script, signed with the name of 'Abd al-Majid, the shikasta calligrapher, and with the date AH 1180/AD 1766-77, Persia, probably 19th Century, Persian manuscript on paper, ten lines in shikasta script in black ink written diagonally and horizontally within panels, red and blue inner borders, framed, album page 285 x 179 mm.
D. a calligraphic album page with Persian poetry in praise of a king in nasta'liq script, Persia, 17th Century, Persian manuscript on paper, text written diagonally in eight couplets in two columns within cloudbands, inner border with gilt floral decoration, framed, album page 308 x 187 mm.

  • In item B, Sultan Ibrahim Mirza is almost certainly the Safavid prince (d. 1576). Khwaja Ikhtiyar Munshi worked in Herat at the court of Sultan Muhammad, son of Shah Tahmasp and Governor of Khorasan. His recorded work is dated between AH 949/AD 1542-43 and AH 970/AD 1562-63. See M. H. Semsar, The Great Islamic Encyclopaedia, vol. VII, pp. 175-78.
