Labelled Antonius Gragnani fecit Liburni, Anno 1778 and branded A.G. on button and lower rib Length of back 362mm (14 1/4in) of a light orange brown colour, use, wear and restorations, in double case with a Violin Bow stamped Tourte. (3)

  • Offered with the Tree-Ring Analysis Report no.A98 from Mr.John Topham, Surrey, dated 8 Sept., 2012 noting inter alia; the most significant cross-matching dates obtained for the youngest rings measured on the bass and treble sides of the front were AD 1714 and AD 1724 respectively, also noting in Table 1c significant cross-matches (both sides of the above table) with other 18th., century Italian violins and cellos.
