attributed to Charles-Guillaume Diehl (1811-1885)
the shaped top with removable lid centred by a painted porcelain plaque depicting a bird in foliage, flanked to each side by a foliate handle, the interior with green-painted metal liner, on columnar supports each headed by a winged mythological beast on palmettes, joined by a lower shelf inlaid with scrolling foliage, on cast sabots, some mounts with foundry mark JL to the back, 51cm wide, 37cm deep, 82.5cm high (20" wide, 14.5" deep, 32" high).
