surmounted by a pierced three-quarter gallery surround, the demi-lune top inlaid with an open fan and two fruit-filled cornucopiae, the inlaid ribbon-tied garland frieze fronted by a drawer, on tapering square legs with quiver capitals and joined by a stretcher modelled as a bow and arrow, the drawer surround stamped twice to the front 'ALIX', 60.5cm wide, 33cm deep, 76cm high (23.5" wide, 12.5" deep, 29.5" high).

Footnotes

  • Georges-François Alix (1846-1906) specialised in 'meubles genre ancien, bronzes et marqueteries'. In 1870 he was established at 46, rue de Charonne and in 1878 moved to 6 bis, rue Richard Lenoir. He exhibited at the Paris Expositions of 1884, 1885 and 1889. Alix designed and executed his own bronzes, some of which he in turn sold to François Linke.
