  • The rectangular shape of the carcass, opening with two long drawers, inlaid with geometrical parquetry and mother of pearl inserts are typical of the neoclassical production from the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies in the last quarter of the 18th century. A comparable commode from the Villa Livia in Naples, with a similar jaune de Sienne marble top is illustrated in E. Colle, p.71. Identical cube parquetry delimited by geometrical bandings can be seen on a Neapolitan commode-bureau from the same collection, illustrated in A.Putaturo Murano, pl.XXVIII.
