- The style of the present painting suggests that it is by a French artist working in Rome at the same time as Simon Vouet, circa 1622-1625, whose strong influence it displays. Other French artists working in Rome in that period, such as Nicolas Regnier and Claude Vignon, were equally influenced by Vouet.
