A 19th century Maltese silver dressing table set
Parts marked for Emidio Critien, Valetta 1829-34, the case by Palmer and Jones, London
Consisting of one larger and three smaller circular pots smaller, two rectangular boxes, three square section bottles, a shaving brush holder and a sectioned tray, each engraved with a crest and "W F B to I C, 1881," all contained within a rosewood and brass bound case, with red velvet lined fitted interior, the case with plaque engraved with crest and "Mr Blair of Blair".

  • The crest is that of BLAIR of Blair.

    William Fordyce Blair, 25th Laird (Born 1805 - died 1888) was a naval man and rose to the rank of Captian. He excelled himself in battle at Navarino, Morea Castle and in the China Seas. He married Caroline Isabella Sprot and had five issue. It is possible that I C in the presentation inscription is his wife with her initils reversed.
