A unusual George IV Irish silver-gilt and agate snuff box
With Hibernia mark and date letter for Dublin 1825, incuse stamped to the flange, Gardner
The rectangular cover with central oval agate panel on a cast and chased ground of shamrocks, acanthus and roses with a raised rocaille border, the sides with a similarly executed band of shamrocks flanked by foliate scrolls, the underside of the cover with an oval insert engraved with a coat of arms, one side lifting to reveal a small compartment (agate to this cover lacking), length 8.7cm.
