Large gold cigarette box (S&P 187)
A mid 20th century gold, platinum and diamond set jewel case
Stamped Saran, 750 and with signature plaque C. Berger (?), later French Owl control marks to flange
Rectangular form, the slightly domed cover with flush hinge to rear and an 'S P' monogram formed of 110 graduated diamonds pavé set in white gold, the thumbpiece formed of five pairs of baguette-cut diamonds each in a rub-over mount on a segmented cushion support, green velvet lined interior, plain sides, raised on four annulated vase feet, length 22cm, width 13cm, weight all-in 1699gms.

    The S P monogram for Soraya Pahlavi. The case is likely to have been one of the numerous presents given on the occassion of her marriage to the Shah in 1951.
