HONDIUS, HENRICUS. Nova Virginiæ Tabula. [Amsterdam: c. 1638.]
Copper-engraved map, hand-colored, 458 x 548 mm (sheet size). German text on verso (signed 3D1). Small spot in caption, mild discoloration near centerfold.
Depicts Chesapeake Bay, with attractive detail of the surrounding rivers and hills. Burden notes that "This is Henricus Hondius' derivative of John Smith's highly important map of Virginia, 1612. It is, however, drawn from his deceased brother Jodocus' version of 1618." Burden 228.
