FIRST EDITION IN RUSSIAN. Trotsky, Marxist revolutionary and first head of the Red Army, was a prolific writer. Besides writing on politics, literature, art and many other subjects, he produced this unusual autobiography that tried to justify his heated disputes with Lenin and to counter the international campaign against "Trotskyism" fueled by Stalin. Scribner's in New York published the American edition the same year "Granit" issued this Russian one. Ten years later one of Stalin's henchmen murdered Trotsky with an ice-pick.
