As the official organ of the Left Front of the Arts, this journal was dedicated to the promotion of radical political art and literature—in particular Constructivism. Its agenda was to "re-examine the ideology and practices of so-called leftist art, and to abandon individualism to increase art's value for developing communism." LEF is perhaps best remembered for Rodchenko's eye-catching photocollage covers.
