FIRST EDITION. This suite of Russian avant-garde propaganda prints was published to honor the first anniversary of the Bolshevik Revolution. In typical agitprop style, the Heroes are the Worker, the Red Army Soldier, the Farm Laborer, the Sailor, the Seamstress, the Laundress, the Motor-Car Operator, the Telegraph Operator and the Railway Worker; the Victims the Factory Owner, the Banker, the Landowner, the Kulak, the Baroness, the Priest, the Bureaucrat, the General and the Merchant. All the Heros are shown as noble, hard-working men and women while the Victims are caricatures of the petty bourgeoisie. Mayakovsky provided a brief caption for each image.
