FIRST EDITION. "Iliazd" was a pivotal figure in the modern avant-garde. Born in Tiflis in Georgia, he helped form with the poet Alexei Kruchenykh the 41° group of Futurists and later joined the Dada movement in Western Europe. He emigrated to Paris after the Bolshevik Revolution and continued to work as one of the most influential designers and publishers of his generation. Although this experimental and often poetic novel was largely ignored when it was published in a small edition, Voskhishchenie is today recognized as an important innovative work.
