1. LIFAR, SERGEI MIKHAILOVICH. Tanetz. Osnovnye techeniya Akademicheskogo Tantsa. [The Dance. Current Principles of the Dance Academy.] Paris: "Étoile," 1937. Illustrated with photographs. Original wrappers designed by B.N. Grosser. Shaken, backstrip becoming detached at foot.
2. LOPUKHOV, FEDOR VASILEVICH. Puti baletmeistera. [Paths of a Ballet Master.] Berlin: Petropolis, 1925. Illustrated by R. Goncharov. Original decorative wrappers designed by R. Goncharov. Yapp edges bumped, loss to lower fore-corner of upper cover. Lopukov began as one of the greatest character dancers at the Marynsky Theater; after the Bolshevik Revolution, he was the first choreographer to experiment with contemporary themes. His reputation was tarnished when Pravda denounced him for "Formalism" in 1935. Puti baletmeistera was a highly influential theoretical treatise that called for the ideal marriage of dance and music.
