1. RYNIN, NIKOLAI ALEKSEEVICH. B Vozdushnom okeane. [In the Ocean of the Air.] St. Petersburg: P.P. Soikin, 1912. 30 pp. Folio. Original printed pale green wrappers. Lacking rear wrapper, inscription on title. FIRST EDITION. An early study on aviation by the pioneering aerospace expert Rynin. As early as 1918 he wrote about the possibility of a manned rocket propelled spaceship. He later issued a nine-volume encyclopedia on space travel. A crater on the Moon has been named for him.
2. ALKSNIS, YAKOV IVANOVICH. Na vzlet. [On the Ascent.] December 1, 1928. Folio. Mimeographed student publication of Voenno-teoreticheskaya shkola [Military-Theoretical School] in Leningrad. Original color-printed wrappers. Toned, wrappers worn. Alksnis was the commander of the Red Army Forces from 1931 to 1937. Stalin executed him during the Great Purge of 1938.
