A pair of unusual lacquered wood horseshoe back armchairs
18th/19th century
Simply constructed with elegantly curved top rails set over carved back splats set into hard seats and supported by curved spindles, the beaded aprons carved above foot rests and stepped stretchers; the densely mottled coating of lacquer on the framing members displaying of russet hues reminiscent of puddingstone and a creamy white lacquer applied to each each seat.
