A scarce British Pattern 1858 Native Mounted Police percussion carbine
The 21 inch barrel in .65 caliber smoothbore; open rear sight; breech marked 135 with Birmingham view and proof and crowned ordnance mark. Lockplate marked 1859/Tower) beside crown/broad arrow ordnance mark; the tail with Crown and VR cipher. Furniture of standard pattern, the brass triggerguard with issue mark 3-16. Full stock, right side of buttstock marked with Bombay Arsenal stamp and Birmingham War Department stamp dated 1887
Condition: Very good. Grey metal showing some light spotting. Sound wood with scattered staining and few light marks, left side of buttstock with chip at buttplate.
