An American Federal period infantry cartridge pouch
circa 1808-30
Of heavy black leather, the underside of the flap fitted with a brass hook fastening to a brass clasp mounted on the lower front of the pouch; interior with wooden block drilled for 26 cartridges, the front of the pouch with folding cover opening to reveal a tinned compartment below the block. Underside of pouch with two iron buckles for attachment of shoulder strap, the back with two sewn loops as guides for the strap.
Condition: Very sound and showing light surface crazing overall.

Size: 10" x 7" x 3 1/2".
