A lot of two American officer's swords
Comprising: 1) Variant M. 1872, the curved 31 3/4 inch blade with 17 inch panel etched with scrollwork, U.S. and Federal eagle; ricasso marked S.N. Meyer/Washington, D.C. Gilt brass hilt, the semi-basket guard with oval panel having applied plaque of the Great Seal of the United States. Grey shagreen and brass wire-wrapped grip. Nickeled scabbard, the gilt brass mounts molded with foliage. 2) M. 1902 by M.C. Lilley & Co., nickeled blade with 16 inch panel etched with meander, strapwork, U.S. and spread eagle. Brass hilt with traces of gilt finish remaining. Ebonized horn grip. Nickeled scabbard with brass mounts.
Condition: 1) Blade finish frosted; hilt retains generous traces of gilt finish. 2) Excellent blade. Grip with small chips. Scabbard nickel frosted, the mounts with traces of gilding.
