A ribbon-hilted Scottish broadsword
The 32 inch double edged blade with 9 inch central fuller above the hilt indistinctly inscribed I N II A I I N I I A and surmounted on one side with the running wolf mark for Solingen/Passau and on the other with a cross. Ribbon hilt composed of flat bars incorporating S-forms, shaped panels with simple fluted decoration and single beak quillion. Flattened conical pommel molded in relief with plant forms and trefoil leaves. Wooden grip retaining most of a copper tape wrapping.
Condition: Showing heavy, dark patina with areas of pitting overall, the blade showing numerous nicks, mainly to one edge, the point rounded.
