Footnotes

  • Introduced in 1967, the Rolex Sea Dweller was the professional version of the popular Rolex Submariner. It was the result of collaboration between Rolex SA and COMEX (COMpagnie dEXploitation sous marine). The watch had a record water resistance of 2000 ft or 610 meters. The Rolex sea dweller incorporates a helium escape valve for saturation diving which was used by COMEX divers who were issued the watch. Early Sea Dwellers with red signature on the dial are highly prized by collectors.
