  • The Wepman Collection of Nakashima Furniture

The family of David Wepman moved to Bucks County Pennsylvania in 1947, where he met the artist George Nakashima, and a relationship evolved. From 1947 onward, the Wepman family commissioned furniture pieces from the Nakashima studio on Aquetong Road in New Hope. In addition, in 1954, Mr. Wepman hired George Nakashima, in his capacity as architect, to design the new Wepman home in York Pennsylvania, and Nakashima named a table after him. Wepman's daughter, Susan Wepman Seidman, enjoyed a cordial relationship with the Nakashima family, especially children Mira and Kevin, and later inherited the family collection of Nakashima furniture. The following eight lots are part of that legacy.
