1873 Open 3 $20 MS63 PCGS
Bathed in softly frosted luster and handsome straw-gold patina, this delightful Select piece would fit nicely into any collection of Mint State gold. Boldly struck throughout, and free of individually distracting abrasions. The 1873 Open 3 may be the most plentiful Type Two double eagle, but the type as a whole is conditionally challenging with Mint State coins fairly elusive even at the BU grade level. (PCGS 8967)
