1869-S $20
Lustrous orange-gold with a whisper of pale olive iridescence. Finer than usually seen for the grade in today's numismatic marketplace, with minimal contact marks. A popular San Francisco Mint issue that becomes rather scarce in Mint State grades despite its sizeable mintage of 686,750 pieces; gold coins of the era circulated heavily in the region of our westernmost mint. (PCGS 8956) Brilliant Uncirculated
