1883-CC $5
The lightly cleaned surfaces are free of individually distracting abrasions with a sufficiently sharp strike to most features. The 1883-CC is much scarcer than the 1882-CC, and it may be the most underrated Carson City Mint half eagle from the 1880s. Only 12,958 pieces were produced, and Doug Winter (Gold Coins of the Carson City Mint, 2001 edition) accounts for only 100-125 survivors in all grades. (PCGS 8362) Extremely Fine to About Uncirculated, lightly cleaned
